The customer wanted to have a solution to tackle their Odoo application’s slowness issue in their on-premise. Odoo is a business management software that contains e-commerce, billing, CRM, project management, inventory management, manufacturing, etc. tools.
They wanted to have a scalable PostgreSQL database and ensure point-in-time backups are available. They also want to ensure backups are taken regularly to a separate space.
They were facing a lot of issues in their on-premise instances. The client’s PostgreSQL database was malfunctioning on the on-premise instance. The database vacuuming was not happening properly and the database size was tremendously increasing. This self managed DB became very difficult to maintain. Also, the application faced slowness frequently. The database backup to another S3 compatible storage from another provider was failing frequently.
Proposed a solution to host the application in EC2 with CodeDeploy and enable autoscaling based on the CPU threshold and request count. For RDS, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL Serverless was proposed.
